Laura Salinas has served as the administrator of the Lamar Bruni Vergara Education Center since its inception in 2005.  As administrator she ensures the day to day operations of the center and promotes classes and events throughout Webb County.  She constantly seeks new and different educational opportunities for the women who seek education as a measure of empowerment and a way in which to free themselves from their abusers.

Laura said her passion for helping the women and their family’s has only grown since she began her work with the Center.  As she sees women grow strong enough to better their situation, she herself gains more strength.

“Every time I see pride in the face of a hard working student who has learned something that she never imagined she would be capable of doing I am proud of what we do,” Laura said.   “When I see smiles on the children’s faces as they participate in our activities, I get a smile on my face.”

Laura holds a bachelor of science in psychology and is Licenciado en Psicologia in Mexico.
