 The Sister de Lellis Nutrition Program is available for food distribution on a case-by-case basis depending on need. The program is in memory of Sr. Mary De Lellis who served the community for more than 60 years.
The Program works in conjunction with other Mercy Ministries of Laredo programs, such as Casa de Misericordia, to provide for special starting over needs for the residents of the shelter. Nutrition classes will be expanded at the Mercy Healthcare Clinic and offer additional food preparation classes the Lamar Bruni Vergara Education Center in central Laredo.
Sister de Lellis Nutrition Program staff looks for ways to collaborate with others, such as a local Methodist Church, which has a large food distribution program, to develop a voucher system to provide for emergency food supplies, should the program's food supplies be low.
