Moral Support

Support events are crucial in helping domestic violence victims overcome the emotional and spiritual impact of the abuse.  Support programs include:

  • Training sessions and classes for the public
  • Support groups – meet every Wednesday night
  • Parenting classes for young mothers
  • Playtime and play-based learning activities for children – staffed by local university and high school students under the direction of Children’s Advocates.
  • Counseling – counselors are available for women in the community to provide an opportunity to discuss domestic issues and violence prevention without having to enter the shelter and leave their homes.
  • Health information – a nurse is on hand at the center from 4:30 – 6 p.m. each day to provide women and their children with information on health issues
