Support events are crucial in helping domestic violence victims overcome the emotional and spiritual impact of the abuse. Support programs include:
- Training sessions and classes for the public
- Support groups – meet every Wednesday night
- Parenting classes for young mothers
- Playtime and play-based learning activities for children – staffed by local university and high school students under the direction of Children’s Advocates.
- Counseling – counselors are available for women in the community to provide an opportunity to discuss domestic issues and violence prevention without having to enter the shelter and leave their homes.
- Health information – a nurse is on hand at the center from 4:30 – 6 p.m. each day to provide women and their children with information on health issues
