Mercy Clinic patients have a big reason to smile. They are provided dental care at low or no cost at their medical home. In partnership with several local dentists, Mercy is able to provide services to people who have no other option for dental care. The volunteer doctors provide cleanings, fillings, extractions and referrals for complex cases or extensive work. Since its inception in February of 2007, the volunteer dentists have made in-kind donations of $277,513 through 686 patient visits.
In partnership with several local dentists, Mercy Clinic provides preventive dental services on a weekly basis at low or no cost to Clinic patients. Services focus on preventative care and are provided to adult clinic patients and their families, with special emphasis on persons with chronic illnesses. Program features include:
- Cleanings, fillings and simple dental extraction services
- Minimal co-payments for all services
- Utilization of MML federal poverty sliding scale for fee determination
- Training of promotores as dental assistants by local dentists
- Management of complex cases by social service department
- Arrangements made with local dentists for extensive work
